General and older person's medicine

Circle Bath Hospital offers adult private patient access to early specialist management for older person's medicine.  Consultant physicians are specialists in managing patients who have multiple health issues.

For older patients our experts are able to provide  appropriate care when the diseases and disabilities of later life impede normal daily living activities.

With general and older person’s medicine the consultant is able to investigate the patient's health issues and if necessary refer to other specialist services at Circle Bath including Respiratory, Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Physiotherapy and Diagnostics.

Our consultants have specialist knowledge in preventing and treating disabilities and diseases in older people. Our specialists cover a wide range of conditions that affect the elderly including falls, infections, immobility and medication reviews thereby helping to prevent illness and allowing patients to live full and independent lives.

Older patients frequently take multiple medications, often prescribed by consultants from a variety of specialist areas. Our physicians are able to carry out a medication review to ensure that there are no drug-drug interactions which may cause adverse reactions.

Often the symptoms of disease in older patients may be vague and non-specific, usually these problems are treatable if the root cause can be discovered.

With access to Circle Bath’s highly skilled team of consultants, nurses and physiotherapists, re-enablement starts from the moment of admission.

The multidisciplinary team offer adult patients access to early specialist management which covers a wide range of medical conditions. These include patients referred for investigation and diagnosis, and patients referred for other specialist services. With general medicine at Circle Bath Hospital elderly patients have access to immediate and early specialist management.

At Circle Bath we are able to admit patients either for respite care or recuperation following surgery.

Circle Bath’s respite care includes a well-appointed private bedroom complete with en-suite shower room and a relaxing view of the countryside (where possible) offering comfort and privacy. All our food is locally sourced and all meals are freshly prepared by our chef. Patient's relatives can enjoy  open visiting hours, free parking and can join the patient for meals (for an additional charge).

We are committed to delivering a great patient experience. To find out more about respite care please call our Private Patient Advisors on 01761 422288.
