Head Chef

    James discovered his love of cooking as a young teenager when he assisted his grandparents in the preparation of meals. He subsequently was invited to take part in a Junior Chef Academy Course in Reading; this enabled him to develop his love and passion for cooking prior to attending Thames Valley University for two years. The first year being full time which was then followed by an apprenticeship working at a two rosette establishment, receiving extensive fine dining training whilst working his way both through the kitchen disciplines and up through the kitchen ranks.

    James joined Circle in February 2015; beginning his time with Circle as a Chef. On joining Circle his drive and passion was to provide the patients the best possible food.  With attention to detail he took pride in the presentation of the food, so that the food not only tasted amazing but also looked attractive and professionally prepared.

    In December 2016 James became the Head Chef of Circle Reading Hospital and was able to apply his fresh young approach and ideas to help with the launching of Circle Rehabilitation.

    As Head Chef, James has trained and built a talented and highly motivated team who are all dedicated to giving patients the best possible culinary experience. James and his team believe in using fresh, locally produced food products and suppliers to bring a personal touch to all of the food they prepare for their clients.

    When writing his menus James works alongside a Nutritionist to ensure the patients are given the best possible meals to enhance their recovery. Time is also taken from his daily duties within the kitchen to visit individual patients to discuss food preferences and gain face to face feedback so that he can use the knowledge gained when planning future menus.
