Hamid Sultan

Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation

    Having obtained his MBChB degree, Dr Sultan completed his higher medical training at the Department of Rheumatology, St George’s Hospital and the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre, London. He was then appointed a Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine within the Plymouth Community Hospitals Trust. In 2002, he took up his current position as Consultant Physician in Neurological Rehabilitation at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

    He has wide experience in the diagnosis and management of neurological diseases such as stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, brain tumours, spinal paralysis and traumatic brain injury; and of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis and different forms of inflammatory arthritis.

    He has played a major role in setting up rehabilitation services in many organisations across the UK. He regularly takes part in education and training programmes in the field of rehabilitation and has given numerous lectures within this field nationally and internationally.

    Dr Sultan is a member of the British Society for Rehabilitation Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
