Circle’s multidisciplinary staff are the A-team for patients

A select group of doctors, nurses, therapists, dieticians and administrators meet every week at the Circle Rehabilitation centre at Circle Reading Hospital. They are discussing the progress of each patient, one-by-one.

The group call themselves the “MDT,” short for the multidisciplinary team.

Patients corroborate with staff on individualised programmes to get back to their homes, family life, jobs, hobbies and sports. This is in line with the European style of rehabilitation that Circle Health has imported to the UK.

“The patients always say they wouldn’t have been at the same level of independence without the input of the rehabilitation team,” said Dr Hamid Sultan, who provides clinical leadership to the MDT.

At the centre’s gym, musculoskeletal and neuro physiotherapists guide patients on Circle’s gold-standard equipment, like the AlterG anti-gravity treadmill. But treatment goes beyond exercises. The MDT brings in expertise from counsellors, psychologists, occupational therapists, hospitality – all who are innovators in their own fields.
