Helping the NHS during COVID-19

Circle Health Group, which includes BMI Healthcare, is supporting the NHS by making beds, staff and equipment available to patients in need of urgent care during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the agreement with the NHS, we have been providing a range of support for patients at cost price during the pandemic.

Our support in numbers:

Here’s how Circle Health Group has supported the NHS during the pandemic so far:

  • More than 50,000 NHS patient admissions across our 53 hospitals
  • Over 280,000 NHS patient contacts (e.g. including appointments, diagnostics, treatment etc.) during the COVID-19 response so far
  • Our hospitals have provided vital services to support local NHS hospitals, such as providing vital cancer surgery and maternity care in a Covid-free environment.
  • More than 16 million units of PPE have been used when providing care to patients.

In addition, many of our dedicated staff volunteered to directly support NHS colleagues on the frontline at Nightingale sites and other local NHS hospitals. We also transferred essential equipment (e.g. ventilators) to our NHS colleagues during the peak of the pandemic, and have increased our provision of ITU beds (intensive therapy unit) to ensure we’re responsive and adaptable to changes in demand.

We’re so proud of every team member who is supporting patient care; from the housekeepers who are keeping our hospitals spotless, to our intensive care nurses supporting the most vulnerable patients. Everyone is playing their part and we’re standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the NHS.
