Circle Birmingham Hospital to create 250 jobs

Circle Birmingham Hospital, which will open in June 2019 on the site of the former BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Edgbaston, is to create 250 new jobs.

Roles will vary widely from nurses and pharmacists to administrative, reception and hospitality staff. The hospital is also keen to recruit apprentices.

Employment is growing in Birmingham but the region still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country (at 5%). Circle Birmingham Hospital is part of a concerted push to expand the region’s reputation as an international centre of excellence for healthcare, with a wide range of healthcare facilities established or under construction in the Edgbaston Medical Quarter, which is likely to see thousands of new jobs being created in the next three years.

Circle Health, the company behind the new Birmingham hospital, has a set of six qualities it looks for in new employees: passion, disruption (the courage to call it as it is), humanity, resilience, agility and partnership. It believes these qualities have allowed it to create a positive and effective working culture in its existing hospitals, in Bath, Reading and Nottingham, where employees feel empowered to ensure that patients have a great experience.

Circle Birmingham Hospital will open in June 2019, treating patients with a wide range of conditions including pain in bones and joints, hernias, varicose veins and digestive problems.

An additional rehabilitation centre will open a couple of months later. This will specialise in helping those recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions, those recovering from major surgery such as hip replacements; and injuries by professional and amateur sportspeople.

Jacqueline Droogan, Director of Mobilisation for Circle Birmingham Hospital, said:

“We’re creating a state-of-the-art hospital that will be spacious, bright and high-tech. People will find it an amazing place to work and the patient experience will be second to none!”
