Lewis has worked in the NHS and private sector and has over 10 years’ experience. During his time in private practice, at Spire Bushey Hospital, he had the opportunity to work with some of the country’s leading MSK consultants.
He has also worked as an extended scope practitioner at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, organising diagnostic tests and injection therapy, prior to joining Circle as ESP Triage and Audit Lead.

Lewis also works at the University of Hertfordshire as a guest lecturer, where he also gained his master’s degree with distinction.

Experience:
Jean has worked in the NHS and private sector and has over 32 years’ experience. She has worked mainly in the NHS in Birmingham area and Bedfordshire area. She has worked in a number of private Sports Injuries Clinics in both areas over the years.

She has been the Clinical Lead outpatient physiotherapist at Luton and Dunstable Hospital since 1998 and developed the Extended Scope Practitioner (ESP) services in the Hospital and Luton and South Bedfordshire areas from that time and has been the Lead ESP since then. She has worked with many different surgeons over the years and has a special interest in Spinal conditions.
She joined Circle at its’ inception as an MSK service, subcontracting her services through Luton and Dunstable Hospital, to help provide specialist ESP services, referral for diagnostics and injection therapy.

Jean has been involved in lecturing over the years, most recently for the East of England Rheumatology services and mentors Masters students for the University of Hertfordshire for their clinical placement modules.

Anna Stewart

Experience:
Anna currently works as a senior hand therapist at Addenbrookes Hospital and BMI The Manor Hospital, but has also worked at Bedford Hospital, where she has developed comprehensive skills in both plastics and orthopaedic trauma. In addition to these clinical areas, Anna has extensive knowledge and experience working with patients diagnosed with rheumatology conditions and acquired upper limb disorders. Working within the specialist field of hand therapy Anna has developed specialist assessment and treatment techniques for a wide range of hand injuries, symptoms and conditions both pre and post-surgery.

Anna is passionate about hand therapy. She continuously strives to ensure that her patients receive the best possible care, using up to date techniques based upon best clinical evidence to enable patients to regain maximum functional use of their hands.

Jo also works within the Bedfordshire MSK service alongside an orthopaedic consultant proving post op review clinics for patients following hip and knee surgery and liaising closely with the consultant regarding management of hip and knee conditions.

Luke is a qualified physiotherapist and has over 15 years of experience working in both the NHS and private sector. In his previous role at Bedford Hospital he had the opportunity to work alongside Orthopaedic consultants improving his knowledge of patients’ pathways to surgery.

As an extended scope practitioner with Circle he assesses and treats a range of musculoskeletal conditions. He is able to utilise ultrasonography within his clinics to complement his clinical skills, aid diagnosis and guide injection therapy treatments.

Chandrasekhar Dekka MSc MCSP

Experience:
Chandrasekhar graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University, Bangalore, India in 2003 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree. Subsequently after graduation he worked at several multispecialty hospitals for couple of years and gained experience in neurology, neurosurgery, general medicine and orthopaedics. To continue his passion and develop his career, he undertook MSc in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University in 2007. Following Post Graduation, he joined NHS and worked at various levels and continued to improve his clinical and nonclinical skills. He worked in Essex and London as a band 6, band 7 and band 8 physiotherapist for 7 years and then developed MSK physiotherapy services at Heathrow Detention Centre.

In 2013, Chandrasekhar became an Extended Scope Practitioner. In 2016, he took new challenging role to lead Spinal community services in harrow and ran the successful pilot and results were presented as a poster presentation at Physiotherapy UK Birmingham 2017. He joined APPN network for his passion to rive profession. He has keen interest in evidence-based practice implementation, developing clinical guidelines and teaching. He got a vision of standardising the ESP practice nationwide. If feasible he would like to develop fellowship in MSK physiotherapy and raise the profile of profession nationally to benefit the profession, service users and commissioners.

Umer Sheikh is a clinical academic who combines working as a specialist extended scope physiotherapy practitioner with research and teaching responsibilities. He graduated with BSc Physiotherapy Degree. His early career was spent at Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital (GTTH) in Lahore. During this time, he built up a range of teaching and research experience and he soon realised that his passion lay in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He did his Masters (MSc) in Adapted Physical Activity on the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. He was later awarded Scholarship to complete his second Masters (MSc) in Advancing Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University.

He has worked in clinical practice for over 12 years in various roles ranging from consultant physiotherapist to Clinical lead both in NHS and private sector. He strives for excellence to inform and improve the clinical effectiveness and quality of care. He is currently working with award-winning Circle MSK service.

Kemila Goppy

Experience:
Kemila graduated from the university of East London in 2005 with a BSC Hons degree in physiotherapy and in 2002 with a BSC Hons degree in sports healthcare. She started out her journey as a private physiotherapist working in small private clinics in London and in a variety of sports settings including international sporting events. Kemila’s passion has always been in MSK physiotherapy but she has also worked in general surgery, respiratory careand trauma & orthopaedics. Her extra certifications include Pilates, personal training and acupuncture.

Kemila began working with NHS patients in 2013 and she has focused on career progression into leadership roles. In Kemila’s previous job she was the team leader and currently she is the Speak up Guardian for Greenwich MSK. Kemila enjoys her role working as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist for Greenwich, where she effectively manages patients to get the best help on the right pathway. After 13 years of working as a physiotherapist, Kemila remains passionate and driven and continue to treat patients fairly, equally and with compassion.

Mr Gohir is researching web based intervention for knee osteoarthritis as a part of his PhD and passionate about musculoskeletal conditions. He is trained as MSK sonographer and training to become independent prescriber.

Liam McManus, Podiatry BSc ( HONS ) M.Ch.S HcPC

Experience:
Liam joined Circle MSK in May 2018 as a passionate and experienced Extended Scope Podiatrist. Since graduating from the University of Huddersfield, he has gained extensive experience managing complex musculoskeletal, biomechanical and sports injury related pathologies of the foot and ankle. He practices at Circle MSK at Eltham community Hospital two days per week. The rest of the working week, Liam is the director of South West Podiatry clinics within south and west London.

He has furthered his education, completing several masters modules and extended scope courses such as corticosteroid injection therapy, gait re-training, soft tissue mobilisation and foot mobilisation/manipulation. Liam has also volunteered at CRISIS on three occasions and at the London Marathon in 2017 and 2015 as part of the medical team offering emergency care to injured runners.

Matthew began with circle MSK part-time in 2016 and combines his extended scope work with lecturing and research at the University of Birmingham, where he leads the post graduate Exercise and Sport Medicine (Football) programme, which is run in partnership for the Football Association.

Matthew is research active, with a special interest in the physiological and psychosocial aspects of pain and sports medicine. Matthew’s Doctoral research focuses on interventions that modify the Physical Activity behaviours of chronic pain patients.

Tom started his career in the Hertfordshire NHS service developing an interest in MSK and becoming a member of The Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine. Following this he worked in amateur rugby and then spent 18 months working in New Zealand, where he specialised in MSK Occupational rehabilitation and complex case management. On returning to the UK he spent 2 years working in a strength and conditioning centre with elite athletes and patients with chronic injuries.

Chris now works as an MSK Practitioner for Circle where his role involves working with the Shared Decision Making team in managing and educating patients who meet the surgical threshold as well as working within primary care as a first contact practitioner assessing and managing patients with a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Helen has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with strong interest in persistent pain management since qualification.

Prior to joining Circle MSK in 2016, Helen worked for a private occupational health company. In addition to standard physiotherapy practice, she conducted their flagship treatment for persistent pain management via their Functional Restoration Program, which enabled attendees to return to work following prolonged period of absence.

Since Joining Circle, Helen worked in all of the physiotherapy based areas for the company – including Nordic Health, Physioline and usual one-to-one physiotherapy practice. In addition to this Helen has worked with colleagues of varied disciplines to design and implement an innovative pain solution for Circle MSK.

This includes the pain engagement session: a one hour talk each month which explains persistent pain to patients and how they can learn coping tools and return to previous activities. Following the engagement talk, Helen co-delivers the six week Circle MSK Pain Management Programme to enable patients to explore the complex management of persistent pain in greater depth and to develop new skills for life.

Aaron Ajibawo

Rachel Brammer

Rachel is an experienced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. She has had a successful and varied career working with high level performers in the West End and Broadway as well as company’s such as the BBC and the National Theatre in injury management and prevention. She then went on to work with top orthopaedic consultants in post-operative rehabilitation and oncology functional management.

Since joining Circle in 2018 she has enjoyed being part of the team and has a varied role which includes being an MSK Practitioner, facilitates Shared Decision Making, participates in clinical triage and enjoys working with pioneering treatments such as APOS for optimum patient outcome.

Rufaro Sikipa MSc MCSP

Experience:
After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, USA in 2008, Rufaro returned to the UK to complete an MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) in Leeds. He then moved to London and completed junior physiotherapy rotations at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust before specialising in MSK as a senior physiotherapist. In 2017 Rufaro was appointed as a team lead Physiotherapist at Crystal Palace Physiotherapy Group and then joined Circle MSK Greenwich as Lead Physiotherapist earlier this year.

Rufaro’s current duties are split between working as an MSK first contact practitioner at the walk-in clinic at Ferryview GP Practice in Woolwich, and managing the in-house physiotherapy service at the MSK Greenwich hub. His special interests include working with patients to achieve healthy weight management through diet and exercise, as well as promoting mental health wellbeing.

Jo Corfield

Jo started her career working in a Sports Injury clinic and pitch side with Football and Rugby teams. She has previously lectured at the University of Chichester, teaching the Pathophysiology module for Sports Therapy.

Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist Jo has specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She has worked in both private and NHS practise. Jo has experience working with patients with a variety of conditions from acute sporting injuries to Rheumatological conditions and persistent pain.

Alongside working in the Physiotherapy clinic, Jo is currently running the Apos Therapy Service at Bedford. Within this clinic she delivers specialist assessment and gait analysis for people with lower limb arthritis. Based on the findings Jo will develop a personalised Apos Therapy programme aiming to improve an individual’s quality of life and reduce pain.

Robyn began her post-graduate experience working in Canada as an MSK Physiotherapist in private practice. In addition to clinical work, she was a lab instructor and evaluator for Master’s students at Dalhousie University’s School of Physiotherapy in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Further to MSK Physiotherapy, she has experience working as a community physiotherapist both in Canada and within the NHS in England.

In March 2018, Robyn joined Circle MSK and began working as Senior Physiotherapist in Greenwich.

Susie Rogers

She has worked in mental health services (adult and older people) in Birmingham and Bedford and in clinical health psychology (psycho-oncology and renal services) at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. Meera has also worked as a Psychologist in a mental health service in Bermuda (2013-2015).

Meera has previously been an Honorary Tutor on the University of Birmingham Clinical Psychology Doctorate course, offering workshops and clinical placements to local Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

Meera joined the Circle MSK Bedfordshire team in March 2017 and has taken a lead role in developing and integrating a Psychology Service within pain management. This includes a direct clinical service to patients and establishing a role within the wider multi-disciplinary team through consultation and offering staff training.

Meera has been actively involved in setting up and co-facilitating the Circle MSK Pain Management Programme (LEAP). This is a structured, evidence-based group intervention facilitated by psychology and physiotherapy for patients with persistent pain.

Experience:
Dr Collins has worked in the NHS for 20 years including 11 years as a local Bedford GP and 8 years in Musculoskeletal Medicine where he has acquired high level skill in diagnostic and interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. In addition to the Circle MSK Bedfordshire service, he works with the English Institute of Sport providing Sport Medical care to British Olympic & Paralympic athletes, he is also a match day Doctor for the Northampton Saints Rugby Club. He is the Education Chair of the British Association of Sport & Exercise Medicine and is passionate about Medical Education and improving the quality of patient care.

Experience:
Louise is a registered General Nurse whom qualified in 1998 and has worked within the field of Pain Management since 2004 in both primary and secondary care. Louise started her nursing career working within a Recovery and Anaesthetic Department within a busy General Hospital. She then worked on a Day surgery unit and eventually became Ward Sister. She has also worked within a community setting as both a community staff nurse and District Nurse. Her career in pain management began within the secondary care environment, where she practiced as a Specialist Nurse in both Acute and Chronic Pain Management.

The main purpose of Louise’s role is to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary setting in order to provide effective support, advice, management and education for patients with Chronic Pain. Her main philosophy is to apply, multi-disciplinary professional working relationships across all relevant clinical groups and organisational boundaries, promoting the enhancement of care for patients with chronic pain.

Louise is involved in both assessment, implementation and evaluation of care. The main principle of her practice is to focus and promote informed and evidence based criteria. Louise is an independent Nurse prescriber and consequently maintains evidence-based knowledge of analgesic and co-adjuvant therapies in order to recommend, manage and monitor their effectiveness. In addition, Louise also offer support and advice regarding Non pharmacological management strategies for pain management.
