For the last 20 years she has been working in the Pain service, the team winning the NUH honours award for outstanding service. Following a Masters degree in Pain Management she developed an interest in alternative therapies and qualified as an acupuncturist in 2003. Her current role includes providing medication advice, having successfully completed the non-medical prescribing course, advising patients and evaluating the effects of pain interventions.
In addition, she provides acupuncture to treat any pain condition which can be a useful treatment alongside other pain management strategies. Acupuncture can relax any tense muscles, reduce pain and it may also improve sleep. Other benefits can include an improvement in general well-being and the ability to move more freely.
