Personal Profile

Mr Chambler is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Bath Clinic, specialising in Shoulder & Elbows.

He qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, part of Imperial College, in London. Embarking on his surgical career his interest grew in Orthopaedics, in particular shoulder and elbow surgery. Under the supervision of Professor Roger Emery, Mr Chambler was awarded his Master of Surgery degree specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery by the University of London in 2000. He gained his Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship with Professor Carr in Oxford and has since been awarded travelling fellowships to UK & and Europe, as well as to the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA, by the British Elbow & Shoulder Society.

Mr Chambler further developed the shoulder & elbow service at Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) NHS Foundation Trust, not only concentrating on new advanced arthroscopic techniques and joint replacement but also organising quality control with prospective audit of surgical outcomes to ensure the highest level of patient care. He became Clinical Director of Orthopaedics at YDH in 2011.

As a specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery, a large part of his practice is made up of shoulder replacements and tendon problems. Further areas of interest for Mr Chambler also include the management of sports injuries, tendinopathies and reverse and anatomic shoulder replacements  He offers bespoke management of advanced keyhole surgery to treat frozen shoulders, tendon problems and stability.

When meeting with a patient, Mr Chambler gathers a detailed history and examination of the affected area. Once a diagnosis is made, he will discuss an agreed management option that best suits the patient and their injury; and whether it will require an operative or non-operative procedure. Examples of treatment include steroid injections with physiotherapy through to keyhole surgery and full shoulder replacements. He also works alongside our specialised physiotherapist to hold clinics in upper limb rehabilitation.

At the Bath Clinic, Mr Chambler is fortunate to offer bio-inductive implants for rotator cuff tear repair. Conveniently, a lot of Mr Chambler’s procedures can be done via a day case admittance. This allows the patient to recover in a comfortable home environment.

Mr Chambler's main objective is to increase the functionality of the patients' joints to ensure their quality of life is at its fullest.
