Urology Unit at Circle Birmingham Hospital

The Urology Department at Circle Birmingham is made up of specialist consultants who cover a comprehensive range of urology conditions.

They investigate and treat scrotal lumps, such as a hydrocoele, and perform vasectomies and vasectomy reversals. Among many other procedures, they perform circumcisions, prostate biopsies and laparoscopic (keyhole) prostatectomy. They treat kidney stones and urinary stones and run a haematuria clinic to diagnose the cause of blood in the urine. Erectile dysfunction and male infertility are investigated and treated in this department. There is a service to assess and treat urinary tract infections, as well as continence support, for men and women. Cystoscopy and urethral dilatation are undertaken to examine and diagnose conditions of the bladder.

In short, the Urology Department offers support for conditions affecting the kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder and urethra for both sexes, as well as for male anatomical, reproductive and sexual issues, while Circle Birmingham's Gynaecology Department offers similar support for women.

The Department’s consultants, as well as providing support for general urological conditions, have developed particular areas of interest and expertise and this has enabled them as a team to offer their patients such a comprehensive service.
