Management of back pain
What is back pain?
Pain in any area of the spine can occur as a symptom of many different injuries or medical conditions, such as arthritis. Back pain can occur with other symptoms, such as swelling, a high temperature, pain in your chest or limbs, and numbness of the genital or anal area.
What does this involve?
Your consultant will first examine your spine to diagnose the source of the pain. This may include use of imaging technology, such as an x-ray or MRI. You may be prescribed medication or specialist therapy sessions with a physiotherapist or a chiropractor. In severe cases, you may require surgery.
