Consultancy predicts that private providers will fill the gap as local health systems fail
(Wednesday, July 14, 2010)
In a detailed review of the health white paper, the public services consultancy, Tribal, says the Government will expect, 'if not invite', the private sector to step in as NHS bodies fail to adapt to the change.
It predicts that 'perhaps a third of England's local health bodies will run out of money over the next few years without major changes in service configuration'.
The review also claims that the adoption of a social enterprise model on the scale proposed for the NHS by health secretary, Andrew Lansley, is 'without precedent' in the British public sector, and describes it as 'denationalisation through mutualisation'.
