Preparing for treatment
Before your procedure, you'll be provided with an information pack which contains detailed information on your specific treatment. Please read everything in the information pack so that you are prepared and know what to expect on the day.
In some cases, you may be asked to arrive at the hospital early. You may also be required to not eat or drink before the operation. For example, if you are having an operation under general anaesthetic, you can't eat or drink anything (nil by mouth) for about six hours beforehand.
If you develop a cold, fever, diarrhoea or another infectious disease on the day of your procedure, you must contact us immediately. We'll rearrange your appointment for a time when you are healthy and fit for surgery.
To ensure your treatment is safe and complication-free, it is advised that you:
- Wear loose casual clothing.
- Do not wear any make-up or nail varnish.
- Remove your jewellery and leave it at home.
Please notify us in advance if you have any special requirements. This includes the need for an interpreter, someone who can sign and interpret for you if you have hearing difficulties, a guide if you are visually impaired or any other personal support if you have a disability.
