Professional profile

Tim Davis qualified from Bristol University 1979. He trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in the North-East, where he worked in Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Durham. He also spent a year at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA where he developed his interest in hand surgery.

He was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Nottingham University with Honorary Consultant status in 1991. He took up his present NHS post as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon at the Nottingham University Hospitals (and subsequently in the Nottingham Treatment Centre) in 1994.

Tim was appointed as a Special Professor in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Nottingham University in 1999 and was Editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery, (British and European Volume) during 2000-4.

He was President of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand in 2009 and is presently chairman of the Society's research and Audit committee.

Tim sees and treats both NHS and private patients at the Treatment Centre.

Research interests

Tim Davis has published papers on the treatment of fractures of the wrist and hand, Dupuytren's disease, hand osteoarthritis and other hand conditions. He was awarded a Hunterian Lectureship on the treatment of scaphoid fractures by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011.
